#BadassBudgeting Tip of the Day: Shop Estate Sales

Many of us have shopped at thrift stores, consignment stores, garage sales and have used such platforms as Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or Kijiji... but have you ever considered shopping an Estate Sale?

An Estate Sale is usually organized after someone passes away and their home is downsized or sold. All the items in the household then have to be given away or liquidated via an Estate Sale. These sales are especially good in the spring or summer months when the weather is nicer to organize (what is usually) an outdoor event. However, Estate Sales can also be found in the fall and winter months as well. Estate Sale events can be advertised through Facebook, Craigslist, Kijiji, your local paper or through word of mouth. Most of the time, there are signs posted on street signs and wooden posts advertising such events in our local neighbourhoods.

What are some of the finds we have come across at local Estate Sales? We have found a heavy duty, commercial-grade meat grinder for $20.00, hosts of matching plate and bowl sets, and everyday household items from nice cutlery, to great knife sets, etc.

I encourage you to do an online search of your local Estate Sales and visit them on the weekends (when they're usually scheduled as most people have time off on the weekends to shop and roam around).

Let me know in the comments what you've been able to find at your local Estate Sale.

Sending everyone much love and wishes of safety and good health.

Signed, Filipina Budget Girl.
