#FinanceFridays: Women's Self-Care and Finances

Updated: Mar 31, 2023

Generally, when people hear the term, "self-care" they think of spa days and professional manicures and pedicures. Already sounds, pricey! But I'm here to say, ladies, this doesn't have to be the case.

I have $35.00 a week ($5.00 a day) budgeted for self-care. This could include a new body lotion from the drug store, or a new face mask. It could include a manicure and pedicure at home, and a hot shower with lavender body wash. It could mean a thrifted item found at a local consignment store. What I'm getting at is that a weekly or bi-weekly budget for self-care is a great idea. It means we are putting the behaviours and actions in to prioritize our selves and put our well-being first and foremost.

My Mom friends might say, "must be nice to have the time freedom and flexibility to do this" and that might be true, but hey, even though I might not be a Mom, I can imagine what it would be like to have the busy-ness and unexpected events of being a Mother through friends and family who have several young children.

I hope this post sheds light on the different ways we can incorporate self-care into our everyday routines financially and otherwise. If you have budget-friendly self-care tips, I'd love to know in the comments below! Signed, Filipina Budget Girl.
