#MoneyMondays: Using What We Already Own

It can be easy to register our credit cards on multiple websites, such as Amazon, Sephora, hardware and clothing stores, but what about being resourceful and using what we already own?

I'm in this time and place where I recognize, along with friends, family and coworkers, how expensive life is becoming: from groceries, to gas, to clothes and recreation. Inflation amongst other factors is hitting us hard and we are forced to be resourceful with what we already have. Below are some tips in how we can use and re-use what we already own to save time and money.

Food (Pantry)

Have you ever looked deep into your pantry to take stock of everything you have in there? From soups, to pastas, to recipe mixes, to baking items - we have so much in our 2-door pantry. Be creative. Mix up meals and recipes to come out with delicious creations using your pantry as a base.

Clothes

Have you ever opened your closest, armoire or dresser and thought to yourself, "I have nothing to where?" with a closest-full of clothes? I challenge you to create new outfits with the clothes you already have. Take pictures. Take inventory of what you already own and what pairs well together. Then make sure to stop and enjoy all the photos of your newly-paired outfits and all of your money-saving actions!

Shoes

Shoes. How many of us have a dozen pairs or more? From stilettos, to running shoes, to ballet flats, I've also got them all! Now is the time to take stock of your shoe collection also. What pairs well together? What items need to be thoroughly cleaned? What shoes need shoe protectant (in the rainy or snowy months)? Take inventory of what you own and make sure you're utilizing everything you already have instead of buying new. For those items that are still like-new but not ever being worn, consider donating them to your local Consignment Store or thrift shop.

We are not limited to only food, clothes and shoes when it comes to using what we already own. This can include makeup, household tools and equipment, and even decor items! I'd love to know what items you use and re-use around your house if we haven't already thought of them. Please let us know in the comments below! Signed, Filipina Budget Girl.
